Coinjoins would never work if Bitcoin had mass adoption anyway. Samourai knew this, they explicitly didn't want Bitcoin adoption, just like the average corporate Bitcoiner also doesn't want adoption.

He was accused of money laundering, and later pleaded guilty. This leaves room for the government to want to investigate the samourai wallet and in extreme cases incriminate simple users who have nothing to do with the case
