Mosquitos kill many humans. Afaik they've killed more humans than any other species did, even humans.

Even if it would tip off some delicate balance in nature, if we could, we would've eradicated them long time ago. We just can't, they're too many.

In Florida they’ve genetically modified a mosquito that makes mosquito offspring infertile and are releasing them into the wild. They presume that this will reduce future mosquito populations by an order of magnitude if not multiples.

We didn’t have such genetic tools available to us in the past

and if we are students of the past we know these blossum into unavoidable side effects, collateral damage; problem ends up worse than started

Well, it’s possible you’re right, but surely someone said the same thing about vaccines for things like small pox and polio, so the past doesn’t necessarily agree with your opinion
