I thought they do this in the US too. Not getting out of the way (where possible) may end in your vehicle being pushed off of the road. Years ago a friend told me it's the same that's why emergency vehicles in the US have the front fenders. Is what they told me.

So instead of folks getting out the way, the emergency services just barge them off the road? Lol nice.

It would just be easier to let them through but I guess America gonna America.

Not necessarily but you can get your car scratched or get fined for blocking emergency services. It's not like the drivers are lunatics. The ramming (or pushing your vehicle aside is more likely to happen if you block emergency access points. Fire fighting or lifesaving doesn't wait for a towing truck.
