Forgot one - we also got Hawaii in the deal. Queen Something Something had given a speech in Congress and was just days away from getting independence back, but when that war started, the president asserted we needed Hawaii to fight Spain.

Also the war was started by a false flag operation. That's now proven and accepted history.
