Harvested some #comfrey and #calendula from the garden to make a lard based salve. First time using the lard and I much prefer it.
Only having to buy the lard = more money saved for sats

How does the lard salve feel on your skin? I'm interested in making tallow salve this year. I'm drying plantain and calendula and will make infused oil with avocado oil. Then will use tallow instead of coconut oil and shea butter to make salve.
Really good actually. Before I was using a commercially made sunflower based comfrey oil because it didn't have so much time to make things. This feels much nicer on the skin it's greasy rather than oily so it stays put and seems to absorb better too. Unfortunately I have yet to make anything else with animal fat but look forward to trying it out!
