Replying to Avatar Ken Lazer

Update already nostr:nprofile1qqstzt0wugc7sklvr8e7fcl7ukyn63ym3ns4nmf2mnk0vqnz4l9x65q4mm7kq addressed the call out of scamming with a legitimate response, “he’s learning”. This is my exact concern and point.

I don’t recall accusing him of being a scammer or telling anyone to mute/block him. Please don’t misrepresent my shitpost as something it wasn’t. I simply pointed out that his stats didn’t line up with his statement that he likes to use the zap button more than the like button. Seemed a bit disingenuous worth calling out publicly, but saying I accused him of being scammer is taking it way too far.

That’s fair. And your call out was fair too. I understood that his statement did not match his actions. You weren’t the only one pointing discrepancies between zapping and being zapped. I did lump your post today with other posts that called accounts “scammers”. I should have been more clear.

I was more trying to comment on the recent trend of calling out accounts who don’t zap as much as they are zapped. I’m not sure that’s cultural we want. Case in point with your post today, Dr Ken had a valid response, he learning.

As I shared, I haven’t zapped nearly what I have been zapped. But I’m trying to be an honest active positive Nostr neighbor and I think most on here are as well. Probably naive on my part.

Ps: keep up your shit posting, I find value from them 🫡

All good 🫂🫡 More discussion is better than less. Just wanted to clarify my comments for anyone coming across your thread since you had quoted my note. My criticism was about the discrepancy of what he said he’s doing vs what he appears to be doing, not the amount he’s sending.

Personally, I don’t think it’s healthy for people to start nitpicking the ratio of how much someone sends vs. receives. Zaps are payments. Some people zap to pay each other back for dinner, or to pay for products, etc. Some people have zapped me to pay for graphics I made for them off nostr, or for winning contests, for instance. Some people create a LOT of good content and they probably deserve to get zapped more than they zap out. Some people zap themselves lol, or have zap battles where they’re sending large amounts back and forth for kicks and giggles. Zaps in vs. zaps out is not a simple one size fits all scenario where there’s a “good” or “bad” ratio.

These are all great points that I didn’t even think of. Zap ratio should not a measurement of anything.

That’s my position on it. There are too many unknown variables. Anyone could easily spin up a few dozen npubs and anonymous wallets and zap the same sats to themself over and over again to make it look like they’re zapping out millions upon millions of sats. Or vice versa, to make it look like they’re receiving far more sats than I they actually have. I suspect some specific people of doing this already, but no way to know for sure 😂
