This does seem to be a commonality. I wonder if it is a cause or a precondition that make them more succeptible to the manipulation.

It hasn't been studied well, probably because it goes against currently accepted narrative.
I have observed this as well. Most of the queer people I know have had some significant difficulty with a parent (I won't go so far as to call it trauma since I think that word is losing its meaning). Very rarely do you see an individual from a well-balanced, healthy home end up in a way lifestyle.
