Looks like a male common snapping turtle out looking for some lady turtles. Male's have long tails and female have short tails.

I pulled over to take a quick picture, but I got too close so he pulled his head back into its shell, so I snapped my two pictures and got out of there so I wasn’t bothering em.
I’m assuming so active right now cuz mating?
