if you want to live longer nostr:npub1acg6thl5psv62405rljzkj8spesceyfz2c32udakc2ak0dmvfeyse9p35c aside from getting the size of your waist down, getting plenty of sleep and avoiding stress you can try building meaningful relationships

i have a theory that people need to feel appreciated by others in order to live long. that your body knows if you are appreciated or not and people who are appreciated live longer than ones who are not because if your DNA determines that you're a burden on your species it will off you.

there is also some evidence that people with children live SHORTER lives because their DNA is telling them to make room for the next generation.

i am 43 but i look younger than people did in their 30s a hundred years ago because a hundred years ago they would be grandfathers in their 30s and i have no kids ...

so perhaps people who go to McDonalds are just better socially adjusted and mentally healthier than ones who eat Tofu alone at home with their cats fearful that a molecule of cholesterol was snuck into their meal somehow ...

There is wisdom in what you say.

Living long isn't my goal, I just want to live well while I am here. Seeing a dog waking from anasthesia it is perfectly clear that they were fine being dead and don't really want to wake up into life again.

But medical studies come over my feed from time to time and I like to think. So I try to work out what they mean.

Getting the waist down, getting plenty of sleep, avoiding stress, building meaningful relationships, these are all highly coorelated with longevity, as is socioeconomic status, and having an active lifestyle.

As for "fast and fried food away from home" being coorelated with longevity I was thinking:

Socializing: people who eat out tend to do so with other people... although I see a lot of drive through loners too.

Economic status: fast food isn't actually cheap.

Ability to leave home: it excludes invalids who can't travel.

Canoia oil: this aligns with all those other studies that imply canoia oil is actually a super healthy food. Therefore:

a) either foods fried in canola oil are healthy, or

b) this study is another devious trick to get us to buy and consume poisonous canola oil.

I'm not going to argue for either of those views because the seed oil argument is not interesting to me.

outside of canola oil fast food is actually fairly balanced in terms of having a decent amount of real food ( meat, chicken, eggs, cheese and even fish if we consider tuna sandwich fast food ) in it.

fast food is better ( even by admission of most of those who, like me, consider it poison ) than food served in schools and hospitals and infinitely better than most diets that people inflict on themselves such as vegan diet

regardless of what you think of canola's health properties its just used because its cheap. but fast food overall isn't as cheap as school or hospital food and cheapness is a better reason to use a food ingredient than superstition ( what Vegans and other diets use ).

so it seems to be 2-fold:

1 - the social aspect you mentioned / ability to go outside etc.

2 - many people eat food that is WORSE

you can think of McDonalds as Twitter. we hate Twitter for a good reason but reality is most other platforms ( like Facebook or BlueSky ) are WORSE

Yeah, fast-food is underrated. Most people eat terribly, at home, and would be better off skipping their bag-o-chips dinner, or their 15th bowl of ramen or cereal, and buying a döner.

yes. Burger > Ramen
