You're right. I bought into the narrative when I was younger and GWOT first kicked off. On my 3rd deployment I couldn't do it anymore, and got out shortly after. While I was able to do a lot of good as an infantry medic helping both Americans and others I saw a lot of unnecessary bad occur and lost too many friends.
