We do have a small safe with these items ready to take.
Last time this happened, my family (mostly me) was a complete mess. It was a close call, burned a bunch of the exit from the hood (only 1 paved road in, other roads out are rugged 4x4). They had called for a voluntary evacuation, but we didn't leave. A neighbor did, and their kids were pretty traumatized by driving down the road that was on fire on both sides, they moved off the mountain the next summer.
Currently being dropped by our homeowners insurance for the third time in 2 years, too, due to their "fire ratings" and our proximity to a 24hr manned fire station (20 minutes).
