Before Bitcoin, your elderly family member who didn’t trust the banks would hoard cash and gold.

When they died, the family would get access to the deceased prepper’s money.

There was no “password” on the money.

The Satscard *could* be like that. Normal people who want to save some “cash in the digital mattress” without worrying about seed phrases and passwords could use a satscard.

Is there a way to think about this and build bitcoin gold/cash-like products that survives the test of time for the average prepper hoarder?

Perhaps a fire/water-resistant cover for the satscard is all we need?

The satscard is a good product but I don’t trust it as a “keep it until you retire” gift. You need an app or some scripts to access the money and there is no guarantee that the app will be still there or the script will be accesible or even executable in whatever compute we have in 10 years.

Yeah, I think a metal backup plate (or a number of them) works well for this. There could be a single sig plate for each heir. Obviously, there are security issues without multisig. I think the dance between hardware and software is an annoying one when looking out 10+ years.
