I repaired this “single-spring” tamper (the one on the right) and was using it like “meh, it works,” but then it hit me: The spring doesn’t actually do anything 🤣. If you press at an angle, according to basic physics you’re still applying force directly to the metal, so it still tamps unevenly. Totally pointless.

Then I found a dual-spring tamper.

This dual-spring tamper is fantastic. Even if you press at an angle, the second spring balances the tamp, taking your force evenly regardless of angle.

If you’re going to buy something like this, definitely get a dual-spring one.
