22 years ago, at the age of 15, I had a purple belt. I got beaten up one day by a random drunk dude and gave up on Karate. My Sensei back then had mostly trained us in Kata, show and shine, and not for real self defense. We'll I slapped him back equally hard on his persistent request so we're even and I sign up for training once more. But man, ringing in my ears from a little slappy slap.

That show and shine stuff should only be allowed to teach for ceremonial reasons. Good luck in training 🥋
