Tell me more about this device scam.
Ya, what did you sign up for, OP?
Nothing was addressed to me. It seems like he opened a non-profit and sends gifts marketed with Hex to get around the rules. I moved to a new place and never used this address for anything, so I guess the previous owners were on one of their lists.
Doesn't connect to WiFi. I think he opened a non profit and sends gifts marketed with Hex to get around rules. To try sucker people to buy his coins. Never used this address I'm at now for anything so I guess previous owners were on one of the lists he got.
I see. Just another form of sending out a "dimensional mailer" via FedEx to a prospective clientβlike the classic approach of enclosing a $20 bill with a sales letter saying "I sent you this $20 because I want you to get used to making money as a result of our working together."
Except instead of cash, he's sending tablets. Same psychology: send something physical and valuable to break through the noise, create obligation, and prime them for the pitch. Classic direct response.
However, I would never use a device that was sent to me by a random stranger in the mail. Lol there's no telling what's on that thing. It would be interesting to disassemble it though, and plug it into a sandboxed VM to find out if there is actually anything nefarious installed.
It says "electronic LCD tablet," but you say it doesn't connect to WiFi. Does it have an OS? What does it do? I am genuinely curious.
