The trend matters and linear growth is not enough. As KPI we need exponential growth or it will remain a drop in the bucket aka super ultra niche. If you are celebrating 3M zaps as if it was great news, you know little about adoption curves.
I have high hopes for nostr and zaps and especially the "other stuff" but these stats don't look too promising.
There is currently not enough that attracts the average internet user to join & stay. I am on Damus right now and I find my timeline to be much less entertaining than X or IG.
We need more than just bitcoin talk, probably algorithms as well.

I avoid the "for you" tab on Xitter and IG I never wanted to use at all as yes, it's easy to feed a human with infinite amounts of stimuli but I don't want to be that human.
That said, nostr gets more engaging as you participate and add follows. Most clients by default show only your follows and as you start without follows ... that's dull ;)

Feeds are coming. I think this could change things somewhat. You can also currently follow hashtags on clients eg amethyst. Add mute words and phrases to remove bitcoin slogans for eg.
I think feeds will help a great deal. Seems like they're around the corner maybe?

I agree, but that is a far more complex problem lol. Could take years, could never happen, especially with twitter being somewhat more hands-off.
I don't think nostr-as-microblogging will ever be its most successful implementation. We are currently just using a dev chatroom for the wider nostr protocol lol. That's how I see it anyway.
This isn't even nostr's final form. As they say.
If nostr had a CEO and a board of directors, the board would agree with your KPI assessment criteria, and investors would withdraw funds to liquidate nostr and declare nostr dead.
Unfortunately, nostr is just a decentralized protocol. This loose collaboration requires you to like and use nostr. If you have a good idea that can improve KPIs, please build it. We are building it.
For decentralized protocols, slow is fast.

I 💯 agree something needs to pop the lid of this … currently a bit of chicken and egg problem, but hopes are high. We might have also just not have the right building blocks yet … but i feel they are on the way .. small incremental improvement until lift off 🚀

I share your optimism. We are building network effects with one app's data making other apps feasible. With people getting npubs make nostr integration for legacy apps meaningful but I would feel more secure about my hypothesis if the data would show some exponential growth.

Same we are just very early and adoption will probably follow a more burst 💥 model I think once and a while like something hits mainstream news about Nostr or something but we’ll see .. only time will tell if our optimism was naive, but I still am bullish 🚀

Exponential growth leads to massive destruction. Sustained or parabolic growth is a mark of health.
Even negative growth is good. That way only the very few that have similar values remain.
Nice feel-good meme but I'm not here to build an ultra-niche product. I have much higher hopes. I hope we can replace platforms with protocols. Let's not just make Twitter obsolete but also Uber, AirBnB, MyHammer, Amazon, ...
Let a thousand apps flourish that connect people who want to offer something with people that have this something. No more Uber cornering the market with 50% fees. No more Amazon forcing sellers to not offer their products cheaper on their website where they don't have to pay Amazon a fee. No more MyHammer that goes by a different name in every city and I still don't know how to find a plumber. I want a fix and not feel cozy about the same 3 OG nostr clowns I've known since 2022 giving me a GM and a GN every day.
