On the surface, this seems like the most depressing thing to tell someone, but once put in the context of the gospel of grace for sinners through the atonement of Christ, it is the most glorious thing you can be told. If Christ can overcome the most difficult thing you will ever have to deal with, which is your own sin, then there is nothing else he can't free you from along with it.

It is also revolutionary for inter-personal relationships. It is easy to have grace for those around you when you realize that it took much more grace to wash your own sins away.

So, I will always remember those words, and remind myself, "I am my own biggest problem." Or to put it in the words of the Apostle Paul: "The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost." 1 Timothy 1:15
