Bitcoin knots needs to 50% of the nodes yesterday.

Nothing about what Core are doing is ok.

They could be making the best most beneficial change in the world - if they FORCE it on users, THAT IS NOT OK.

Could you tell me more about your set up?

Most of the time you just need to download the knots implementation, and copy the blockchain data over from the directory associated with your core node to the correct place in your new bitcoin knots files.

If you have something like umbrel OS or start OS, this is even easier, you just 'pause' the bitcoin core node app, download bitcoin knots. It should figure out what to do itself.

My node uses Ubuntu OS and I installed core from the Snap Store.

Could I just point knots to the existing directory where my blockchain data lives or does it have a different file structure?

Also I assume this is the official site to download from?

Yeah if you install knots and ensure it doesn't save to the same place as and wipe the current core files you have, you can transfer the blockchain data over. The file structure is the same, knots is 99.99% the same as core - just has additional toggles!
