Likes are archaic. How about just comment you enjoy the note. Or zap. Or whatever. Proof of work engagement makes the world a better place whether it’s positive or negative it’s “something.”

I use it as read receipts. People appreciate that because reads are so wonky, on here, and they like to know that I saw all of the thread.

It’s an odd thing. We’re so used to them it’s forbidden if they’re gone lol. 😂

Those who advocate against likes frame it in such a weird way. No I am not collecting them, and don’t give a shit how many a note gets, it’s a useful feedback mechanism. It has utility. Sending someone actual money as a read receipt is even more strange.

Why not reply instead of like? That’s an even better feedback mechanism. A like is a legacy feature.

Because responding with “cool” or “great” is a waste of time and adds nothing when compared to 👍

Just like a like then 😂

Yeah, likes and zaps aren't the same thing.

Yup, there are emoji reactions in products for a reason. GitHub, Jira, and Slack users are not seeking popularity points. They are communicating in shorthand.

F... Likes, we're not on Facebook.

Just liked this note. For funziez. 😂

Likes are archaic

Set your zapper to one zap

Like button goes bye

#haiku

Yup! And there are replies/engagement. Likes are fiat…easy to print…rapidly declining in value

🙏

Zaps over likes is great, but zapping doesnt work 100% of the time, is what I'm running into. Even if they have them enamble.

A simple response is more valuable than a like. I think a community of human engagement is rewarding.

Obviously this is a permissionless protocol but it’s nice to stoke the thought process away from our repetition.

yes

Are there any clients that's don't use likes?

Damas can turn them off.
