If he knows something about bitcoin you can send those sats directly to a Wallet of Satoshi or via #[3] , and them he can choose the options to spend it.

My friend knows a little about Bitcoin but has only used it through Cash App. I have only just met the visiting family members but I am assuming they dont know anything about it so it will have to be user friendly. I would hope for it to become an ongoing channel for remittances.
Unfortunately Cash App is not available here, I think you can send a little bit via Lightsats, and if he can redeem it, you can send more directly to his wallet
All this you can do it online directly with your friend and for me that’s the best part about bitcoin.
