It is sad to say but the "good" custodial wallets will eventually rug, either from govt or hack or rogue employee.

If you're more comfortable with #bitcoin now, consider tinkering around with your own lightning node.

Try to get your hands on a cheap, used computer and give it a shot!

I agree, it’s just an onboarding process but in the long run you need a node, just like Bitcoin onchain

Can you send instructions to install

I can already see Ledger asking for your Social to let you log in❕

For your protection of course✨

That isn't technically custodial though.

But you have backed up your seedphrase. Haven’t you?

My first node was a pi. I want to set up another one but do something more advanced. Do you have any suggestions. I want a mini computer to keep size down. So what hardware and then what operating system. I will run a Bitcoin node and lightning node.

Buy a old slim form factor dell or HP office computer on eBay. Run Linux on a SSD and you are good to go. Plus they are about a third the cost of a Pi and a ton more computing power

Any old Dell?

What should be Ram or processor

any installation guide?

Get the most powerful and cheap PC you can find used. Don't buy new.

Or even a virtual machine on a cheap new computer! Works great for me and I am not a computer guy

Learn to self-host everything you can!

Node. Relay. Media Server. Website etc.

Need to. Sooner rather than later.

Is it easy to zap from your phone from your own lightning node?

I lose one click zaps, so I send with alby and receive to my node

Oh cool, of course, just put some sats in alby or WOS every so often but receive at your ln node!

🙏 thanks

Only zap amounts on WoS. Everything else on own node or in cold store.

I am running a mynode. It's been very educational. Although at some point I would like to go build a more robust hardware setup from scratch.
