How hard would it be to build a twitch platform on top of nostr using keet as the peer to peer platform to host the livestream and nostr as the community/marketing layer? VODs save to personal relay for long hosting.

You don’t need twitch anymore and ads pay you directly to monetize on your following if you so choose. Subscriptions are easy to implement as well if you want.

This goes for YouTube as well; as the cost of hosting a relay and hosting your own data/videos reduces significantly, you can use nostr as the platform for video exposure using zaps and hashtags.

How long until the equity of twitch and YouTube go to zero and reprice into bitcoin? How fast can we get this built and compounding on itself? Thoughts? #[0] #[1] #[2]

I would like to see something more like bittorrent live: bittorrent but optimized for video streaming to a large audience. Unfortunately that became closed source.

I’ll have to look into that. I guess the livestream platform could change but the idea is the same, just another layer above nostr. Huge opportunity here imo, it’s crazy to think about.

Isn’t hypercore/holepunch/keet not like this?

I highly doubt it

I’ve seen podcasts where the devs say it’s like BitTorrent but built for streaming. But I’m not a dev, so I don’t know how accurate that is.

That’s how they explain it, that it’s like BitTorrent but for streams

I think this can be done now.

BitTorrent was a central server with an IP table that palmed off peer 2 peer downloads.

WebRTC is a thing, could we add WebRTC as a live video layer over the top of the nostr topography?

Probably needs a dedicated video relay for the broadcaster to stream to and everyone else to subscribe to. Might be some lag but probably not much.

Hypercore seems way more efficient than bittorrent

for streaming video to a large audience? I doubt it.
