The original side drawer was causing a lot of performance issues on the old versions, I removed it when I did the layout redesign.
But I agree it would be good to add back, or go do a two panel layout similar to #jumble

I recently updated noStrudel on my umbrel and ... noticed something.
Where is the "open thread in a pop-up"-button, that was shown in the top-right corner of notes?
Why is it gone? I used that all the time and now it's gone.
Sad thing is, I tried to open threads in a new tab instead, but that doesn't work either.
No idea why, but all I get when trying to open anything (notes, notifications, streams settings, whatever) in a new browser-tab is a 404-error.
Even reload only works on the homepage, but not on /notes, /streams, ... again 404.
I don't really like that, can I just get my old version back, pretty please with a cherry on top?
Nah, jk ... I guess, but can you please look into and hopefully fix those issues?

Ok, performance, I get that.
I kinda like the jumble layout too, but I liked the side drawer even more.
Would be cool if you could get those performance issues solved.
I'll just be patient then and see what you come up with.
