Son 2 came for an unexpected visit. He had day pass from basic training. I put him to work grilling steaks on the barbecue.

Agreed. Salad is work. Grilling steaks is fun and an artform, not work.
Son 3 is chief griller in household; Son 2 is second; Son 1 is third. I come a distant 4th.
