I’ve been told that can hurt your battery life on mobile but I still haven’t deleted my relays because I don’t know if I’ll lose follows or followers.
I should run some tests to see, I hardly ever actually use this on my phone surprisingly.
Just don't use a web chat client, and you'll be good. Otherwise, expect to refollow everyone you had in your following list.
I don’t but your followers are still tied to relays somehow, I don’t really understand it.
At the protocol level, every aspect of your Nostr presence that isn't hosted media (follows and followers, lists, posts, profile information, etc.) Is distributed across the relays you choose to connect to so that it's not all dependent on one centralized instance holding all that information.
It's set up such that if one relay in your network shuts down, you have numerous others that maintain and can pull your information if necessary to form a complete profile.
Maybe Chudbuds should have been a Nostr relay instead, but I'm sure Claire would have found a way to.compromise that too LOL.
