For some, definitely. I’m in the #tardstr sector though. Idk about markdown really, aside from it meaning that punctuation/symbols can turn text into different sizes and formats
When we talk about what nostr is “for” beyond freedom tech/censorship resistance and the like, i think we have one of these situations 
But I did see a rope called 'markdown' .. it wasn't tail to be sure ..
As for markdown - it is the best thing that ever happened to a writer .. it's a simplified way to write html .. and html runs the web .. so now I don't need to care how Word would parse my document or how PDF would act .. I simply write in markdown and everyone ( every parser of text ) honors that .. including ofcourse all the web browsers..
