They should last for years in the freezer but I wouldn't stash them away and count on them. It's best to be rotating stock through stock. As you use them replace them. That way you are sure you always have fresh seed. This is a good practice for any stockpiled goods, seeds, food, fuel.

My thoughts were. stash until the power is gone. Then start growing immediately. If I try to grow now, the sheriff neighbor might be upset. If only 1 out of 10 seeds is still viable, thats fine if I have enough of them.

You could buy a bunch and do a germination test with a few every couple years. My seeds are relatively cheap because the breeding program is just getting started and I don't know the most common phenotypes yet.
