You get more space since you fold the futon away during the day. You can air your futon outside, especially in the summer, so I think it's cleaner. Plus I think it's more natural to sleep on the floor. Feels weird to be elevated. Plus it's really easy to buy a new futon and throw out the old one so again cleaner and cheaper than a bed.
