If you are engaging in the current argument about bitcoin it is important that you see the core team are using a false dichotomy as misdirection.

Mempool limits and consensus limits are not the same. They never offered you a version of core, knots included, that limits op_return size in consensus. Your node will not fork from a chain with large op_returns and you never had that option.

You should have the option to have limits on op_return size in consensus not just mempool.

It is a misdirection to say this is just us being stupid wanting an innacurate mempool on our nodes. I don't want an innacurate mempool, I want consensus limits.

They told us there were limits knowing that non devs thought that meant consensus limits.

Support the change or not, the core dev team has been dishonest with the node runners. Today someone can go directly to a pool and get anything they want and core will validate the block. The story about the balance between miners and node runners they told you was a lie all along. Core already gave all the power to miners ages ago.
