I feel like Bitcoiners understand the wave of regulatory challenges coming our way. I also see some great efforts to educate lawmakers and regulators about what this ecosystem is all about. But where I feel like we’re failing is the political organization side of things.

We forget how susceptible lawmakers are to pressure - especially in an election year. We forget how much pressure vulnerable lawmakers can put on regulators. We forget the

impact of several thousand calls and emails to lawmakers office.

With all due respect to nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m , this is not about law and order absolutists prevailing. One only need look at the lawlessness overtaking so many communities. This is about political control - power. Bitcoin threatens the power of the regulatory class. But Bitcoiners can threaten the power of the political class.

By the smallest estimate, there are 26 millions Bitcoiners in the US. Much smaller constituencies have moved political mountains. And we can do so as responsible members of our communities.

Most of you might hate it, but we need to get into the political fight. We talk about self custody, sovereignty. It’s time we actively stick up for these principles in the public square.

One example - the tight US Senate race in Ohio. Incumbent Senator Browns supports the Warren bill. The race is very tight and a priority for both parties. A Coinbase poll conducted last year with Impact Research estimated that 20% of Ohio residents own some kind of cryptocurrency, with 56% having a favorable view.

This is exactly the scenario where a little smart involvement could pay big dividends. Is Brown's support for the Warren firm enough that he would risk his seat over it? I don't know. Maybe cryptocurrency owners in Ohio should find out.
