Something that many also forget is that the state directly or indirectly enforces growth/technology. You are prohibited from living a simple life. E.g. the state just assumes that you have a navigation system in your car. It defines one-way streets all over the place to "optimize" the streets. Now if you do not have a navi you are cooked.

The state is a system and every system loves to install updates.

Yes. But. There are many old cars still on the road. You still have to use your eyes to navigate and hopefully once we destroy the grid, all of these escalating detours will fade into the ether.
