I actually stopped zapping when Apple made nostr:npub18m76awca3y37hkvuneavuw6pjj4525fw90necxmadrvjg0sdy6qsngq955 stop easy zapping. I would start again if it was as easy as it was for that short timeframe.

There's no question that friction has a lot to do with getting more value and bitcoin / lightning / cashu zaps could indeed lower friction and make v4v more effective. I am not arguing that. But, at the end of the day people still need to be told what things are worth (which means erecting a paywall or subscription signup) and you are still faced with limited budgets. Currently value is subsidized by ads and the advertiser is paying the larger price tag because they can afford it (higher customer lifetime value allows for more ad spend).

It is very difficult to make a living off donations. Nostr isn’t going to change that. You have to create, market, and sell a product whether that is your content, your code, or anything else.

If people don’t feel properly rewarded after their payment, they will stop paying. You have to keep them interested too, it’s not a one time sale.

Yep, and people are not cut out for this in general. It takes a lot to be successful with one time sales. The people that do it regularly is a relatively tiny number.
