Difference: a typhoon is not pictured here 😅

Ok, Noerms. Come and see me after class😀

Typhoons are only called typhoons in north western part of pacific ocean and in asia

#lolz

Geographical location

no difference, that's a typhoon.

Ok, I'll drop a clue. I imagine for most people on nostr there is the same fundamental difference between the hurricanes they experience and the storm pictured.

This is rotating clockwise, which meand it is in the southern hemisphere.

Well done bro.......

paid 😁

I've lived through just over 50 years of typhoons and now am about to experience my first "clockwise" storm in Southern hemisphere. 😎

Good luck! Enjoy the experience. 🤘

🌬️ 😎

here is real typhoon - so diff is area / large the diameter coverage😋

Here's a story. In the late eighties I was in the Philippines and experienced a nasty typhoon on an island in the Visaya area. For days after, maybe even weeks, the fishermen weren't going out to catch fish. It wasn't because the seas were still rough, it was because a ferry had been sunk by the storm and many had perished. The fisherman knew that the fish had eaten the perished so wouldn't go out to catch the fish for food.

sorry if that's a bit morbid

Rotation of storm

You're right, but too late.

Yeah noticed post was from 1 hr ago after I replied

longitude would be the main difference

For any of you who are interested in tropical cyclones. Here's the latest satellite image. It can be seen that the eyewall has undergone significant consolidation after the dryer air weakened eyewall of the previous day. The cyclone has strengthened significantly overnight, most agencies giving it 135 kts sustained winds, 170 kts gusts.

ISS satellite imagery showing the degraded eyewall of the previous day.

Latest Satellite image of TC Freddy. Eyewall now clear but slightly widening denoting a slight weakening of strength. Current 130 kts sustained, 160 kts gusts.

Strom continues on forecast track and remains a very intense tropical cyclone.

TC Freddy weakening as it approaches the island of Madacasgar.

Of note is that TC Freddy originated North of Western Australia and in the seas south of Indonesian Islands. The storm has travelled across the whole Indian Ocean and, depending on whether it reforms after crossing Madagascar, may make it to the coast of East Africa!

Latest as the cyclone travels over Madagascar. Could reform and intensify after exiting land and travel across Mozambique channel.

Thanks for the info

Storm as expected seriously weakened by transversing Madagascar but also as expected the remnants of the system are showing re intensification trend as the cyclone moves out across open water again.

After about a 5500 miles journey the remnants of Cyclone Freddy will cross the Southern African coast. A remarkable journey!

Well plebs, TC Freddy lives on . Currently just off the coast of Southern Africa and seems to be consolidating into a defined storm again. Insane that this storm formed in the sea between Australia and Indonesia and has been rumbling along ever since!
