In 945 AD, Princess Olga of Kiev orchestrated one of history's most calculated acts of revenge. After the Drevlian tribe killed her husband Prince Igor, they proposed she marry their prince. Olga invited the Drevlian emissaries to Kiev, promising to honor them. Instead, she had them carried in their boats by her men - straight into a giant pit, where they were buried alive.

But she wasn't finished. She requested more nobles from Drevlia, who she burned alive in a bathhouse. At a funeral feast for her husband, she had 5,000 Drevlians massacred after they became drunk. Finally, she besieged their city, offering peace in exchange for three pigeons and three sparrows from each household. She tied burning sulfur to the birds' legs, who flew back to their nests - burning the entire city to the ground.

Years later, Olga became the first ruler of Rus to convert to Christianity. She was eventually canonized as Saint Olga by the Orthodox Church. 👑 ⚔️ ✝️
