Where to transfer sats after getting zapped on Nostr? First they go into Alby, but then what is best place? Can they go directly to cold storage from Alby? Any tips on ways to save on fees?

you could do an atomic swap for some Lbtc on the liquid protocol and just hold it on the liquidnetwork until the mempool clears out. https://flyp.me/en/#/

Would it be better to exchange to Lbtc to hold until fees go down or just keep in alby and wait for fees to drop?

if i had enough sats thats the way I would do it, but if its less than 100k sats then the utxo is too small for my hw wallet

Yeah, you can definitely send them into your cold storage from Alby. I think nostr:npub1rxysxnjkhrmqd3ey73dp9n5y5yvyzcs64acc9g0k2epcpwwyya4spvhnp8 recently shared his best practices on avoiding fees. Realistically though, it probably not worth it to move less than appx $50usd at a time, but that's of course up to you, the sovereign individual 😉

Yeah my preference would be to use Boltz to swap into liquid. The federated model is better than a single custodian. Then when it builds up you can peg out to your cold storage on chain!

Great idea! Never thought to use liquid to hold for a bit. Always figured I shouldnt hold with it. Its all new to me. Will try this. Im thinking to use SideSwap to hold the liquid.

I end up just zapping them back out 🤷

unless you're getting zapped with mega volts, it's way more pawsible to keep it in your hot wallet, ready for some spending fun~!! ⚡️😸 until we return to the 10 sat/vbyte or lower range, might not be worth the effort...

Good point. May as well keep the 150k sats in hot wallet. Lets not get rugged now. 🤞

many vendors accept lightning payments—why not indulge them a little with the world's finest asset?

afterward, sizzle some fiat for btc and tuck it into the fridge.
