It must be a reality vs perception thing, cuz in so many gang fight videos I've seen, I always feel this way. Like when people are kicking a downed person in a group (terrible, I know), the kicks look weak af lots of the time.
A very strong kick has a tradeoff. If you miss, you can lose your balance and end up on the floor getting stomped out. Same applies to punches. Missing a huge swing leaves you extremely vulnerable to a counter punch. That’s why jabs are used most often by professionals because they are safe and let you learn how the opponent responds to it until the big swing gets set up.
