My Mom sold land she had inherited from the passing of our grandfather expecting she’d able to pay for her 8 years of medical school. The dollar was worth 4 Lebanese pound. She was only able to pay for one as the purchasing power of the Lebanese Lira got decimated to 200 LL to the dollar.

She was 26 years old and called it “the first inflation”. Truth is, inflation never stops. The inflation of today is the same as of yesterday’s. It’s the slow and silent killer.
