It's the number one mobile payment app in the Philippines. Similar to Venmo, Cash App, etc., except lots of merchants accept it directly, and they are integrated with lots of bill payment services. They did recently integrate Bitcoin.

Why do people use it? Same reasons as all the other payment apps around the world--marketing and network effects. Bitcoin eventually kills off all of these, or at least they all become interoperable over LN.
