A LinkedIn profile definitely helps if you want to get noticed by corporations or contact specific departments of a company from outside.

In regards to a profession as Artist I can imagine it could help landing gigs at corporate events like Christmas, summer etc parties or others (which apparently are paid quite well), or getting sponsored (Vespa)
