There's probably fewer musical artists making a full time living playing music than ever before.

Prior to the 20th century music was only heard locally. Every town and city around the world had a group of musicians play for money live.

Global streaming shrunk that number.

It has to potential to help resolve it. Statistically, I don't know the answer to whether or not MORE musicians are earning a living compared to 100 years ago (that's a mean vs. median type question). The cost of living is definitely a factor - you can't sustain a family unless you're in the top 1% of touring musicians, whereas I have friends whose parents were able to support a family 60 years ago by just playing the jazz clubs.

NOSTR + RSS + BTC provides an additional revenue stream that every musician should employ (& IMO, treat like a savings account). Long term wealth, sovereignty and low time preference are driven by several factors - it's never just 1 thing - but with NOSTR in the mix, it has the potential to end artistic poverty.
