You can't even do cold storage with lightning yet. Wallet of Satoshi is probably one of the most effetive methods for onboarding newbies onto lighting, instead of overloading them with keeping multiple sets of private keys, increasing the risk of losing their on chain keys or getting them confused. When you are storing small amounts on lightning, as you should, who cares. Once cold storage is available for lightning private keys, then this will be a different discussion.
