Would be great if something auto dropped and added new relays when old ones go dark for too long. #[0] ?

I do indeed - I remove down relays and add new ones with good ping/proximity. Then a few weeks later four more go dark then have to repeat the process.
But yes this is a good resource I would suggest using for that
