I just want to clarify something: Within the United States, as per the U.S. Constitution 4th Amendment, there is no "lawful " such access to private communications without first obtaining probably cause.

Tho if a US citizen happens to be in communication with a non-US citizen 3-letter agencies can utilise section 702 to college that information.
