Syncing notes between Android and Linux should be simple enough, but it seems that no Android note apps store notes as separate txt, md, etc. So even when you get your directory to sync, you're still unable to open and view them on the Linux side.

I personally just run a private wiki, so I can log in from any device.
Still, this puzzles me. Aren't apps like Joplin, Obsidian etc using markdown?
Joplin does yes. I just didnt really want to run separate server side software specifically for notes alone. I've never heard of Obsidian, maybe I'll take a look into them later. Do you know how they work? I'd be ok if it were syncing directly between pc and mobile somehow but In looking to avoid using a 3rd party. For now I'm using Plainpad on my server because I access it on PC and install it as a PWA on Android.
Hmm, I would have suggested Syncthing but that's a 3rd party... A good and open source one though, which can be used for more.
I'm using Syncthing. Butb haven't done a working way use it to sync notes between Android and my PC. 3rd party meaning Obsidian for example, paying for an account to sync between devices. Limited resources on VPS so Open Notes or Joplin isn't something I'm interested in. I've got an ok solution for now tho.
Ah ok got that 3rd party thing wrong then. But if Joplin saves markdown can't your sync this with Syncthing?
