Maybe someday I'll give it a shot. Just... Way too much life in the way to do it the "right" way of I were going to do it.

I highly recommend it for the education part. I YOLO’d into running one without knowing much. Just started with a small amount of funds until I understood enough to feel comfortable with more. I learned so much and ran it for about a year. Now I run basically what you described: a couple non-custodial wallets, and a couple custodial wallets for zaps and Lightning address. And it works fine for what I need.
That's the thing. Just playing with them has been learning. I feel like if and likely when I do go that road for fun, I'll have more understanding of how it all works than if I went in blind.
