Yea its a fermenting smell and covered in flies and bugs.

The tree got struck right doen tye middle of two large trunk branch-offs. Basically right down the middle. And I agree with it just never fully healing and probably having a home in the middle just filling with moisture and bacteria. 🦠 🤷‍♂️
