Yup! Most software is created for normies who don't care about their privacy.

do not forget that 99% of all datacenters =the cloud

run on linux or unix

Running on Unix or Linux doesn't automatically make a product good. Linux us a good starting point, since the OS is open source and could be audited, but programs running on top of it doesn't automatically get a pass.

There are good self hosting cloud solutions available. It can be a bit of a pain to do periodic backups, but IMHO it is worth it in the long run as you take control of your privacy.

That would be a good thing in the long run. Less opportunity for surveillance or making me the product through farming of my data
