Yes.

You'd need a very substantial solar array to regularly charge it to fill capacity. That's doable, but not cheap.

They can use all of the experimental technology they want, but they'll always lose out to fossil fuels. They just push all of the "energy consumption" under the rug of production processes the consumer never sees.
