I gave the old lady a 10, i thought she said 9 euros. She gave me back 7 in change so I dropped the coins back in her basket and she was offended.
That's good pride. She deserved it. This is a 20 euro bouquet. I felt bad only giving 5 for it.

Today I heared the it is like that in Japan, people get offended by tips. I can't confirm.
I thought she said 9 and that was fine with me. I know she can use it, it's nothing to me.
I don't buy flowers but it may be something that changes for me when sweet old ladies are selling them out of their own garden. I give a coin or two to beggars where I pass them and they seem legit good hearted people in a pickle.
It made me cry all the way home thinking of how things are for her. No harm in hurting her pride a little.
