To a nerdy audience this is like throwing a grenade into a room of people. While we’re at it, vim is the best text editor and Debian is the best distro.

But ed(1) is the standard text editor.

Grudgingly agree. Seeing code formatted with Markdown is what pushed me off the fence (you get exactly what you expect with spaces, tabs are subject to presentation variation).
But python's 4 spaces is superior to JS's 2.
